Okay, okay, yes, touring was already budget in many respects, but The Tripwire brought us a story yesterday that just took it one step further in the direction of low budget and now really shady. There’s a site called Better Than The Van that hooks up musicians with free floors and couches to crash on.
“What it boils down to is two categories: free couches & floors and band in vans. Essentially, bands can find a free play to rest their weary rock & roll heads through a list of music supporters who are kind enough to open up their doors. Of course, you’re gambling just a bit that the host of the free space to sleep might be insane, but hey, free is free.”
There you have it. Obviously with artists scraping by these days and now being gouged by the gas pump, this is actually an option to consider when hitting the road during the summer touring season. Good Luck!

If you’re looking for some nice summer tunes to drive to the beach or hit up the park to, check out This Is Ivy League (Via Very Short List). It’s a nice mix of Belle & Sebastian and Kings of Convenience. Nothing too complicated, but just some very fun, poppy tunes that you’re not going to find on your radio. Enjoy!
